- The San Diego Symphony performed it's first concert on December 8th, 1910


- The SDSO performs over 100 (!) concerts each season

- They have produced ten highly acclaimed recordings on the Naxos and Proarte labels.

- For all the singers among you: Robert Shaw was the Music Director of the Symphony from 1953 - 1958.

- In 1998 the Symphony Orchestra toured the west coast with Andrea Bocelli.

- The Copley Symphony Hall opened as the Fox Theater on November 8th, 1929, for a mere  $2.5 million.

- Some of the Hollywood guest stars for the Theater opening night were Jackie Coogan, Buster Keaton, George Jessell and Will Rogers.

- The Fox Theater became San Diego's largest movie theater, and today is California's largest.

- Walt Disney liked the Fox Theater so much, that he opened all his movies at the Fox.
